Celebration of Ministry of John Irwin - May 7, 2017

Wesley Glen Ministries Celebrates John Irwin’s Ministry

The forty-year ministry of Rev. John Irwin was celebrated on May 7 at Wesley Glen Ministries.  Friends and family gathered to reminisce about John’s impact on the congregations of Wildwood/Silk Hope, Aldersgate, Riverside, Tennille, and Pitts Chapel United Methodist Churches.  Since 2001 John has served as Chaplain and Director of Development for Wesley Glen Ministries, the Conference’s agency that cares for adults with developmental disabilities.  At the beginning of 2017 John officially moved into retirement status and remains at Wesley Glen as part-time Chaplain while also pastoring Dixon UMC.

Wesley Glen Board Chair Tom Swift thanked John for his years of service and his heart for the people served, their families, and the staff of the agency.  He announced that a group home is being named in honor of John so that his influence on Wesley Glen will be remembered for many years to come.  District Superintendent Dr. Rick Lanford led a dedication of the home and asked all clergy in attendance to join him and John for a prayer of blessing.
